For the month of March 2022, the Roaster's choice coffee is from Burundi. The coffee comes to us from Angela Ciza, the owner of Kahawa Link Company (Kalico).
Angela was born and raised on a coffee farm in the northern region of Kirundo, Burundi. After two decades in coffee, Angela purchased two washing stations each serving about 3,000 small scale farmers.
She has invested in education and training to ensure the farmers produce high quality coffee, in addition to providing micro-credit and infrastructure.
Angela's work has been recognized by the International Women's Coffee Alliance for her impact in the empowerment of the women.
The coffee was imported by a Black Woman, Phyllis Johnson of BD Imports and roasted by Kahawa, making it an all-woman supply chain.
Process: Washed
Roast: Medium-Light
Flavor Profile: Rounded acidity with pleasing brightness. Tastes like Milk Chocolate, guava and brown sugar.
